Marsha (LaPlant) Todd

Marsha LaPlant Todd, age 73, of Sanford, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2025.

Marsha was born to Richard LaPlant and Joyce Brock on November 24, 1951.  She was a choir director for over 20 years.  She led music programs at Pocket Presbyterian, Vass Baptist, Buffalo Presbyterian, Swann Station Baptist and Rocky Fork Christian Church, as well as many more.  Marsha taught reading and music at Grace Christian School and worked for Lee County Schools as a media specialist.  Before retiring, Marsha owned and operated Elegant Images Photography Studio for over a decade.  Marsha enjoyed cooking for her family as well as collecting antique dolls and sewing.  She was an excellent seamstress.  Her endeavors were spent expressing creativity in writing music, teaching piano lessons and painting.  Her talents did not go unnoticed in everything that she did.  She wrote a song that was performed at the Grand Ole Opry.  She led life with a strong Christian faith and sweet Southern charm.  She was raised in Durham, NC and graduated at the top of her class from Durham High School.  She was first chair clarinet and was a majorette.

Marsha had great treasure in nieces and nephews, Holly, Brandi, Jordan, Joe, London, Deanna, Joshua, Matthew and Crystal.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nan Mahle; half-brothers Andrew and Jeff La Plant.  She is survived by a sister Sandra Miller as well as  half-sisters Bonnie Fulgum and Tammy Whitmarsh.  She is also survived by half-brothers TJ, Bill and Richie LaPlant.  Most family and friends called Marsha “Shaza”.  This was the nickname that was given to her from children that found her home a place of great nurturing.  Surviving in the home is her devoted husband of 53 years, Larry.  She has three children, Chris, Amy and Ryan whom she cherished and considered her pride and joy.  She will be greatly missed by so many.  Marsha will be buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Newton Grove, North Carolina with her grandparents and sister.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 1:50 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Dr. G. Travis Riley officiating.
