Maria "Oma" Theresa (Gruber) Elliott

Maria Theresa Gruber Elliott, fondly called “Oma”, age 90, of the Deep River Community, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at her home.

She was born in Salzburg, Austria on February 22, 1929, to the late Karl and Maria Hlawna.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James William Elliott and two brothers.  She worked for many years in the cafeteria at Deep River Elementary School.  Oma was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church.

She is survived by sons, Robert Elliott and wife, Teresa of Goldsboro, Gerald Elliott of Sanford, Kevin Elliott and wife, Carrie of Virginia and Patrick Elliott and wife, Monica of Sanford; one daughter, Leslie Johnson and husband, Stan of Sanford; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Lee Memory Gardens with Deacon Robert “Bob” Bridwell officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
