Maria Dolores (Castillo) Sloan

Maria Dolores Castillo Sloan, age 75, of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at FirstHealth Hospice.

She was born in El Paso, Texas on January 22, 1948, to the late Arturo Castillo and Tomaso Rivera Castillo.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  Maria was a hard worker both at home and in her job.  At work, she rose to every challenge presented even rising to the level of management in a time when most women were overlooked for those positions.  She was a terrific cook who spoiled her family with her famous chicken tacos and Spanish rice.  She enjoyed line dancing, crafts, and music.  Her love for her family and contagious laugh will be missed.

Maria is survived by her husband, Ernest; daughter, Katherine Eubanks and husband, Marshall of Vass; son, Christopher Michael Sloan of Sanford; brother, Arturo Castillo, Jr. of Texas; sisters, Stella Martinez of New Mexico, and Yolanda Ruiz of Texas; grandchildren, Shelby Eubanks, Matthew Eubanks and wife, Amanda and Michael Eubanks and wife, Katelyn; great-grandson, Maverick Ray Eubanks and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with funeral service following at 2:00 PM with Deacon Bob Bridwell officiating.  Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
