Margie M. (Piner) Wolfe

Margie Piner Wolfe, age 75, of Sanford, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC.

She was born in Southport, NC, on February 18, 1951, to the late Gladys S. Johnson. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis P. Wolfe, and a son, Daniel Paul Wolfe.

Margie attended Miller-Motte Business College in Wilmington. She stayed home to raise her daughter, Paige, and began substitute teaching in the early 1990s. This led to a full-time administrative position at West Lee Middle School, from which she later retired.

Baking was her love language — from her famous shadow cookies to her grandson’s favorite strawberry bread, to her daughter’s favorite chocolate cake, and everything in between. She enjoyed spending time with friends, as well as with her daughter and grandson.

Margie was an active member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church, where she volunteered her time and baking talents for more than forty years.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Paige M. Wolfe of Whitsett, NC; grandson, Liam Wolfe of Whitsett, NC; sister, Marilyn Gaines of Sunset Beach, NC; brothers, David Johnson of Bolivia, NC, and James “Jimmy” Johnson of Boiling Springs, NC.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Jonesboro United Methodist Church, with Rev. Cat Clyburn officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church’s Wesley Center Fellowship Hall.

The family requests that no black clothing be worn at the service. Come as you are to celebrate her life.
