Margie Kellam Hickman, age 96, of Sanford, passed away on April 22, 2025, at Liberty Commons. Margie was born in Harnett County to the late William McKennly Kellam and Minnie Carter Kellam on April 10, 1929.
She was preceded in death by her husband Posie Lee Hickman, sons Richard Hickman, Charles Hickman, daughters Geraldine Hickman Yates, Evelene Hickman Brafford.
Margie worked many years as a seamstress for Blue Bell Manufacturing, and at Macks & Maxway department stores. She was a founding member of Grace Independent Baptist Church in Sanford, and served as the Church secretary for many years, Margie was a devoted Christian who loved reading her Bible studying God’s word. She also loved gardening. She will be greatly missed by so many.
She is survived by grandsons, Scott Brafford, of Godwin, NC; Mark Brafford, Rev. Charlie Hickman (Crystal) Brian Hickman all of Sanford, NC. Claude “Eddie” Yates (Annie) of Georgia; granddaughters, Vicky Yates Pratt, of Maine: Amy Hickman White (Bernard) of Broadway, NC; Rhonda Hickman Stevens ( Michael); of Myrtle Beach, SC. 10 great- grand children, 2 great- great- grand children.
The family will receive friends at Bridges & Cameron Funeral Home on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Charlie Hickman & Rev. Darrell Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo cemetery.
