Margaret (Peggy) Denson Lane, age 83, of Lemon Springs passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Randolph Health in Asheboro, NC.
She was born in Lee County to the late John H. Denson, Sr. and Polly Jane Thomas Denson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Lane; sisters, Joyce O’Quinn, Janet Druckemiller, Becky Crutchfield, and a brother John Denson, Jr. Peggy was retired from Moen. She was a lifelong resident of Lemon Springs and attended Lemon Springs Baptist Church prior to moving to Lexington, NC five years ago to live with her daughter. She enjoyed working in her daddy’s store, Denson’s Grocery. Peggy grew up going to Holden Beach and eventually bought a place to continue the tradition of taking her children and grandchildren so that she could teach them all the magic of finding shells. Her other passions included gardening, square dancing and sending care packages to service men and women.
She is survived by her daughters, Carla Renee Wicker Laws (Ronnie Moore) of Sanford and Bridget Wicker Luther (Robert) of Lexington; grandchildren, Stephanie Jordan (Isaac), Brandi Joseph, Samantha Moore (April) and Kelly Moore Hill (Jay), all of Sanford. Dr. Elizabeth Luther Shoaf (Phillip) and Robbie Luther of Lexington and great-grandchildren, Marshall, Jonathon and Matthew Jordan, Clyde Womack, Christian McGee, Lucas Joseph, Emma and Grayson Givens, Kialeigh, Jesse, Kenzie and Jaylynn Hill and Maddox and Luke Shoaf.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 1:50 PM at Lemon Springs Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Brian Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
