Madine Wortman Green, 94, of Cameron, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving friends and family.
She was born on February 21, 1931, in Cleveland County, Caser, North Carolina, to the late Margaret and B.G.L. Wortman.
Madine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished every moment spent fellowshipping with loved ones and friends. She was affectionately known as “Meme,” not only by her grandchildren but by many throughout the surrounding community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Charles Aaron Green; her only son, Michael Allen Green; her parents; five brothers, Esper, Lero, Carmie, and Odus Wortman , Harold Gates, and one sister, Leona Wortman Greene.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Amber Green Stewart (Rusty) and Ashlie Green Sullivan; four great-grandchildren, Nathan Stewart, Skylar Stewart, Rylan Stewart, and Kaydence Green, who were a great joy in her life. A bonus grand daughter Jennifer Brock and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at White Hill Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to White Hill Presbyterian Church (P.O. Box 5258 Sanford, NC 27331), where Madine and Charles faithfully attended and served since 1963.
