Madge Marie (Hancock) Coggins

Madge Marie Hancock Coggins, age 83, of Sanford, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 31, 2018 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born on April 23, 1935 to the late Lloyd Dillard Hancock and Opal Choplin Hancock.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John William “Buster” Coggins; brother, James Lloyd Hancock; sister, Opal Nell Hanshaw and half-brother, Don Hancock.  Madge helped on the family farm and also operated an in-home day care which provided loving care to many children over the years.

Madge is survived by her son, John W. Coggins, Jr. and Teri of Oregon; four daughters, Karen McNeill and husband, Scott, Tammy Johnson and husband, Clyde, Angela Cole and husband, William, Pamela Blalock and husband, Teddy all of Sanford; sister, Shirley Lamm of Sanford; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a long-time friend, Fay Godbee and husband, Billy of Savannah, Georgia.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the sanctuary at Grace Chapel Church.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Grace Chapel Church with Rev. Joel Murr and Rev. Bob Yandle officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
