Lucille "Ciel" Joan (McGuire) Granter

Lucille Joan (McGuire) Granter "Ciel", 88, of Sanford, NC passed in Sanford, NC on March 20, 2025.Ciel was born on January 9, 1937, in Hartford CT to Edward and Adele (Bessette) McGuire.

She was  preceded by her husband of 50 years, Roland Granter. She is survived by her children Cheryl Snow Granter, Kathy (Granter) McNeil and husband Danny, preceded in death by Debra (Granter) Amatucci and survived by husband Ronald Amatucci. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Ciel was a graduate of Manchester High School in CT. She moved to Sanford, NC in 1985, when she and her husband purchased the Brass Kettle restaurant and ran it for 35 years.

Ciel was a hard worker, a devoted wife and mother. She loved to cook and bake and enjoyed family gatherings for all occasions. She had a beautiful spirit and was always giving all of her life.

One of her favorite places was her little lake house on White Lake. She loved cooking for and entertaining the family at this special place that she and Roland had for 35 years. So many wonderful memories were created there.

Ciel had a favorite quote:

“Love is what bridges the pathos of separateness but will never last unless each can be uniquely themselves.”
