Lois (Blackmon) Douglas

Lois Blackmon Douglas, age 92, of Sanford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Linden, North Carolina on October 15, 1933 to the late Roy Lee Blackmon and Mary Isabel Parker Blackmon.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband O.G. Douglas; siblings Bessie Blackmon Ammons, Jean Blackmon Furr, Donald Blackmon and Tommy Blackmon and grandson Ryan Gabriel Cochran. 

Mrs. Douglas retired from Mann’s Hardware.  She was  known for her love of cooking and the joy she found in feeding others. Her kitchen was a place of comfort where family and friends always felt welcome. She cherished a simpler way of life, finding happiness in the little things — time spent at the beach and with her family. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She loved the Lord deeply and carried that faith with strength, grace, and kindness throughout her years.

She is survived by her daughters Gail Douglas Dickens (Danny) of Sanford and Sue Douglas Cochran (Warren) of Sanford; grandchildren Jeffrey Paul Dickens, Danielle Dickens Prill (Jason) and Jonathan Matthew Cochran; great-granddaughter Mary Gabrielle Cochran and many special nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM at New Life Fellowship Church Cemetery with Rev. Amy Hayes and Rev. Glenn Worrell, Sr. officiating.
