Linda (Wood) Pope

Mrs. Linda Wood Pope, 77, of Olivia passed away in the comfort of her home early morning on Sunday, May 18, 2025. She was born in Lee County, NC on May 1, 1948, the daughter of the late Rev Carlie and Nellie Wood. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Billy Ray Wood, Ann Wood Chaffee, Johnny Carl Wood, and Delores Wood McIntosh.

Linda was a devoted longtime member of Calvary Methodist Church. She worked at Bankingport Insurance company for many years. In leisure she loved playing games of solitaire on the computer, dancing to her favorite gospel music and watching old westerns on the tv with her husband. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. Linda was a generous and caring person who positively impacted all who knew her.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Carter Pope of Olivia, and her sons, Carter Calvert Pope, Jr. (Jay) and wife Molly of Lillington, Richard Pope and wife Angela of Broadway, Benjamin Pope and wife Courtney of Kernersville, and Mark Maloch and wife Tina of Wilmington. Grandchildren Sydney, Glynn, Carley, Nicholas, Kenley, Jackson, Taylor, Savannah, Marcus, and Michelle. Siblings Jim Wood, Judi W. Darroch, and Tammy W. Drzewicki, and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation with the family will be held Thursday May 22, 2025 from 1:00 - 1:50pm at Calvary Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Curtis Norris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
