Linda Lou (Gunter) Greer

Linda Gunter Greer, age 73, of the Asbury Community, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Lee County on July 10, 1952 to the late Leonard Newton Gunter, Sr. and Betty Lou Morrison Gunter.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother John Edward “Eddie” Gunter.

She is survived by her husband, of 20 years, Malcolm Greer; children Joe Bullock and wife Jessica, Karen Bullock Ammons and husband Joel; brother Leonard Newton Gunter, Jr and wife Roxie; sister-in-law Terri Talbott Gunter; grandson Atlas Bear Ammons and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Linda (Mimi) had a love for God, her family, her community and gardening.  If you needed anything, she was there-she placed others above herself.  Linda volunteered with various food banks, the Salvation Army, Samaritan Purse and Bread of Life.  Her happy place was at the beach with family and friends, looking for the endless amount of shells she could add to her collection.  The love of music started at a young age with her father, uncle and brothers, active in her church choir and anything else related to music.  She loved traveling with her family, including an amazing Alaskan Cruise last July and a Caribbean Cruise this past March.  

She loved to travel with Malcolm, to foreign shores like England, Wales, and Scotland.   They shared a love of being together as much as possible.

The apple of her eye was her grandson Atlas Bear Ammons. She doted on him, played games with him, on his level. Sometimes, you couldn’t tell which one was the kid.

She was full of life and energy when God called her Home, and we can only hope to be the person she was.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Kimbrell officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the services in the church fellowship hall.
