Leonard Shawn McNeill

 Leonard Shawn McNeill, age 44, of Sanford, NC, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Wake County on February 28, 1974 to Clarence Buddy McNeill and Darlene Holt McNeill.  He owned and operated M&M Typing Service.  Shawn loved baseball and was an avid Yankees fan.  He spent eighteen years as pitching coach at Lee County High School and coached many years at Western Harnett High School.  Over the years, he had the privilege of working with many youth coaching them on various area legion and recreation baseball teams.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancé, Tonya Gray of Broadway; step-son, Wayne Moore of Broadway; step-daughter, Savannah Moore; sister, Angela McNeill Deck and husband, Gregory Wayne Deck of Sanford; maternal grandmother, Inez Holt; great-aunt, Peggy Oldham; niece and nephew, Mackenzie and Kolby Deck of Sanford; two grandchildren, Alayna and Harper Moore.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  A memorial service will follow on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Buffalo Presbyterian Church with Rev. George Walton officiating.
