Leon Clayton Godfrey, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away surrounded by his family on October 24, 2025.
Born with a steadfast heart, Leon lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, and love for those around him. He shared 53 beautiful years with his wife, Deborah Godfrey, building a family and legacy that will forever cherish his memory.
Leon is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Godfrey of Olivia, North Carolina; sons James Leon Godfrey and Paul Godfrey (wife, Crystal); and brothers Danny Godfrey (wife, Sylvia), Mike Godfrey, Tony Godfrey, and Eddie Godfrey (wife, Jennifer) all of Sanford and sister Shirley Holder (husband, Wade) of Siler City. He was a proud grandfather to Taylor Barry (Kevin), Austin Pacheco, Kayla Clarke (Tyler), Braiden Godfrey (Kourtney), Jimmie-Lynn Godfrey, and McKenleigh Kay. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Paisley, Genevieve, and Declan, and leaves behind many well-loved nieces and nephews.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Josie Godfrey; his brother, Jessie Godfrey; and his grandson, Jamie Godfrey.
He will be remembered for his deep love of the outdoors, his passion for hunting, and the quiet strength that guided his family. His legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bridges & Cameron Funeral Home. The memorial service celebrating Leon's life will be held on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Olivia Evangelical Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Karyn Cartier and Pastor Charlie Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family has designated the following men to serve as pallbearers: Randy Godfrey, James Godfrey, Paul Godfrey, Jason Smith, Kevin Barry, Joe Godfrey, Tyler Clarke, Shane Godfrey, and Braiden Godfrey.
