Larry Wade Wilder

Larry Wade Wilder, age 72, of the Deep River Community in Lee County NC, died Saturday, August 31, 2019 at his home.

He was born in Lee County, NC on March 30, 1947 to the late Marvin Wade Wilder and Ruth David Wilder.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Jimmy Lewis Wilder.  Larry graduated from Deep River High School and owned and operated J & L Logging, along side his late brother Jimmy, for many years.  He was a charter member and Deacon of New Hope Baptist Church where he was affectionately known as “Papa Larry” to all the children at church.  He loved the Lord with all his heart and soul and gave so generously to the church helping to keeping the grounds mowed and buildings in top shape. You couldn’t keep him off his lawnmower and wanted to mow just this past week.

Papa Larry is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Ruth McNeill Wilder; sons Larry Scott Wilder and wife Robin of Deep River, Jeffrey Dale Wilder and wife Julie of Deep River, Christopher Bryan Wilder and fiancé Donna Nguyen of Holly Springs; brother Danny Wilder and wife Debbie of Sanford; sisters Flora Mason of Broadway, Betty Mashburn and husband Julian “Jay” of Clayton; and grandchildren Aubrey Sloane Wilder, William Scott Wilder, Bryce Daniel Wilder, Jonah Gabriel Wilder and Brooke Palmer Wilder.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM with Pastor Darin Vogt officiating.  The family will also be receiving friends at the home of Jeff and Julie Wilder.

Memorials may be made in PaPa Larry’s memory to the Building Fund at New Hope Baptist Church, 3007 Beechtree Drive, Sanford, NC 27330.
