Larry James Cameron, age 80, of Sanford, NC, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025 at the FirstHealth Hospice House in Moore County after several years of declining health.
Larry was very proud to have been born and raised in Vass, NC on June 21, 1945 to the late James Edwin Cameron and Marjorie Hilliard Cameron.
Larry graduated from Lakeview High School in Vass and earned his Funeral Service Licenses in 1975 from The Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science in Ohio. In 1979 Larry, along with Tommy Bridges, built Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home where he served countless families during the worst time of their lives. There is nothing Larry loved more than working with families and serving our community. Even in his poor health, Larry would get dressed and come to work. Larry didn’t have any hobbies, working at the funeral home was all he wanted to do and he did it well.
He is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Cathy Byrd Cameron; daughter Amy Cameron Cox and husband Gerald; grandson Cameron Cox and numerous cousins and extended family.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Jonesboro Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Taylor and Mr. Travis Corley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Larry will be entombed at Buffalo Cemetery Mausoleum privately.
