Obituary

Larry Thomas Carroll, Sr., age 76, of Broadway, NC, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at his home, with his family by his side.

He was born in Logan County, West Virginia to the late Destil Carroll and Mary Juanita Dean Carroll.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Deanna Dell Smith.  Larry served our country in the United States Navy working as a Hospital Corpsman.  He also served and retired as a police officer for the Huntington Police Department in West Virginia. 

His entrepreneurial spirit led him to Broadway, NC where he owned and operated Tony’s Seafood in Sanford for many years.  Most people would recognize him as the Broadway Christmas Parade Santa Claus for ten plus years.  Larry’s favorite hobbies were singing, playing the guitar, cooking and boating.  He will be missed by everyone who loved and knew him.

Larry is survived by his loving family, including his wife Patricia Meehling Carroll; daughter Christina Carroll Griffin (Jimmie) of Woodbridge, VA; son Larry “LJ” Carroll, Jr. (Anne) of Sanford; siblings Patty Kish of Winchester, KY, and Debbie Vitiello (Sal) of Ashland, KY; and grandchildren Tanner Carroll, Abigail Griffin and Lauren Carroll.
