Kirby William Buckner, “Catfish – the legend”, age 73, of Sanford, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Central Carolina Hospital.
He was born in Chatham County on August 25, 1948, to the late Grady William Buckner and Lucy Jones Buckner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Gwyn Buckner and his pup, Bear. Catfish was retired from Perdue Farms. He enjoyed dining out and socializing with his many friends. Catfish was never without his bottle of water. He had a very kind and generous heart beneath his gruff exterior.
Catfish is survived by his daughters, Angie May of Siler City and Karen Buckner of Sanford; sister, Bobbie Kidd and husband, Glenn of Ramseur; grandchildren, Zachary Lincoln, Megan May, Katie May and Janie Coletraine; great-grandson, Jeffrey Tyler Sipe, Jr.; nephews, Brian Kidd and Eric Kidd; niece, Andrea Walker and his dog, Booger.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Solid Rock Community Church with Rev. Brad Marona officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
