Kenneth Simpson Obituary

Kenneth Ralph Simpson, age 83, of Sanford, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at FirstHealth Hospice House.

He was born in Lee County,  the son of the late Floyd Welch Simpson and Maggie Ashworth Simpson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson John Garner.  Prior to his retiring from GKN where he worked as a Lab Technician,  he worked at Carnes Company, Wolverine and Eagle Electric. Kenneth was a faithful member of Kendale Acres Church, dedicating countless hours to various ministries throughout his life. He was a cherished Sunday School teacher, a beloved choir member, and served as the church secretary for many years, using his gifts to help guide and strengthen those around him. His love for the Lord and his unwavering commitment to his faith touched the lives of many. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his loved ones. He cherished every moment with his family and was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement.  Kenneth also enjoyed fishing and a good game of golf.  In addition to his service in the church, Kenneth was a dedicated Boy Scout leader for many years. His guidance and mentorship shaped the lives of countless young people. He also mentored many through Lee County Prison system. Kenneth was a man of many gifts, and he used those gifts in service to others whether through his work in the church, his leadership in Scouting, or his other quiet acts of generosity.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years. Faye (Peggy Faye) Simpson; children Charles Simpson (Diane) of Sanford, Vickie Garner (Ricky) of Sanford, Brenda Thomas (Tim Suggs) of Broadway and Frankie Haire (Lisa) of Sanford; grandchildren Candice, Brittany, Laura, Cayce, Austin and Tyler and seven great-grandchildren.

 The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 1:50 PM at Kendale Acres Church.  A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Doug Western, Mr. Johnny Lewis and Rev. Eddie Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Peak Resources and FirstHealth Hospice for the loving care provided to Kenneth.
