Karen Lemons Howard, age 69, of Sanford, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Central Carolina Hospital.
She was born on September 9, 1955 to the late Paul and Jeannette Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roger Lemons; son Jonathan Kellam; grandson Lee Kellam and step-son Tommy Howard. Karen loved working until she became disabled. She worked in manufacturing at Coty, Moen and Static Control. She was a member of Hillview Christian Assembly. She enjoyed listening to all genres of music especially Southern Gospel and she was a huge Elvis Presley fan. She loved her family, especially children as they grew up and she loved visiting her family “up country” while she was in good health.
Karen is survived by her husband Harvey Howard (Tara Plantation); son Richard Kellam (Odena) of Sanford; step-children Harvey Howard, Jr and Terry Howard; grandchildren Jonathan Kellam, Dakota Guilliams, Laura Kellam, Dustin Kellam; step- grandchildren Taylor Melton and Davis Melton, and several great-grandchildren; brothers Rodney Carter (Diane), Steven Carter; sisters Paulette Worrell (Glenn), Sandra Rosser and Mary Yow (Greg) all of Sanford; special cousins and friends April Holder of Sanford and Rita Hutchens of Walnut Cove and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 5 pm-7 pm at the home of her sister, Mary at 3475 Henley Rd, Sanford NC.
