Joyce Marie (Griffin) Thomas

Joyce Griffin Thomas , age 87, of Sanford, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC.  

She was born in Lee County to the late Charlie Griffin and Elizabeth Stanley.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Barry Mark Poindexter and daughter Diane Marie Koch, brothers James Griffin, Worth Griffin. Sisters Mary Ann Mattheson, Katie Badgett, Vester Southern. Grand children Terry Poindexter, Jr. , Scotty Patterson.

Joyce enjoyed traveling, especially to Cherokee, loved sitting on her front porch, loved her family.  Joyce will be missed by all who loved her.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son Terry Glenn Poindexter (Kimberly) of Sanford; sister Ellen Williams of Sanford; grandchildren Christy Ochoa, Ray Koch, Paul Koch, Holly Riley, Hayli Baker, Brandon Gillis and nine great grandchildren.

A  Private Family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024  at Rocky Fork Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Hare officiating.
