Jonathan Brayden Cotton, age 21, of Sanford, NC, passed away, Friday, June 24, 2022, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.
Brayden was born in Lee County, NC on October 28, 2000. He was humorous with a kind heart and had the most beautiful infectious smile. He was compassionate and gave the best hugs. He was fearless and carefree and enjoyed baseball, fishing, boating, and golfing. Brayden lived life to the fullest and celebrated and cherished every moment God gave him. His legacy will continue to live as he was an organ donor. This selfless act will enhance the lives of cancer patients, babies with slight deformities, the blind, and many others whose quality of life will improve because of Brayden’s donations. So now let us celebrate his life.
Brayden was a 2019 graduate of Lee County Senior High School and completed his Associates Degree at Central Carolina Community College. He chose to enter the Marine Mechanic Program at Cape Fear Community College so he could work and play on the water. Being by the water was his favorite place to be.
He is survived by his father Clay DeMent of Wilmington; mother Kristy Cotton Frye of Sanford; grandparents Phil and Brenda Cotton of Sanford; aunts Mary Jon Schmitz and husband Joe, Susan Wilson; aunt Holly Cotton Mohan and husband Patrick; uncle Phillip Cotton and husband Michael; cousins Khloe, Iain, Declan, Keeley Bree, Savannah, and Grayson, and his loving girlfriend Christin Donovan.
