John David Welch Obituary

David Welch, 45 of Sanford, NC entered life on May 29, 1976. He was the son of James Thomas Welch and Debra Wicker Superville and was one of three children. David’s father preceded him in death.  He was also predeceased in death by his maternal grandparents C.M. and Mattalene Wicker and father-in-law Robert Edward Chester

David transitioned from life to Eternity on May 23, 2022, in Sanford, North Carolina. We look forward to seeing him again "In That Great Getting Up Morning".  David grew up and received his education in North Carolina. He was creative and had many lifelong interests, a talented musician, an incredible artist, and an amazing father.

He met and married the love of his life and best friend, Karen Chester, and to this marital union, they were blessed with two loving, wonderful sons Gabriel David Welch and John Israel Welch.

David loved the quality time of caring and love spent with his wife, sons, family, and friends.  They enjoyed many favorite activities together of which he will be dearly missed.  Among his favorites were fishing, drawing, painting, and sculpting with his sons, late night talks and movie nights with his wife, and celebratory occasions and gatherings with friends and family.

Many important aspects that can be noted of his life were his positive energy, his witty and funny sense of humor, his loyalty and compassion to his friends and family.  He will be long remembered for his many attributes by family and friends who already dearly miss him.  David was also a very giving, helpful and outgoing person who made himself available on many occasions whenever he was needed.

David leaves to bereave his passing: wife Karen Chester Welch; sons Gabriel and John Welch, Mother Debra Wicker and stepfather Dr. Lennox Superville of Raleigh; brothers, Thomas Michael and wife Maggie of Vermont, Stephen Matthew Welch and wife Megan of Raleigh; stepsister Debbie Andes of Louisiana; mother-in-law Shirley Ann Chester of Georgia; brother-in-law Dwayne Chester and wife Priscilla Chester of Georgia; 14 nieces and nephews, Aunts and Uncles; a host cousins, other relatives and friends.

Sorrowfully,

The Family

"THE BROKEN CHAIN"

We little knew that morning,

That God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly,

In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.

You did not go alone.

For part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories,

Your love is still our guide.

And though we cannot see you,

You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,

And nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one

The chain will link again.

Love,

Karen, Gabriel, & John

Special Messages:
