Joey Lee Diaz

Joey Lee Diaz, age 66, of Broadway, NC, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Joey was born in Lee County on April 4, 1954 to the late Lena Mae Butler Diaz.  In addition to his mother, Joey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vester Lee Butler, Sr. and Omie Holder Butler; brother, Tony Gregory Haire.  He worked many years in sales for contractor supplies.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ava Dalrymple Diaz; son, Joey Lee Diaz, II of Broadway; sister, Michelle Diaz Holland and husband, Andrew of Fuquay-Varina; mother-in-law, Margie Dalrymple of Broadway; special uncle, John Pat “JP” Butler of Broadway; two nieces, Erin and Alison of Fuquay-Varina and a very special family friend, Jeremy Johnson (Bubba) of Sanford.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 1, 2020 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  Due to current social distancing restrictions, a limited number of friends will be allowed in the building at a time.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Lee Memory Gardens.
