Jimmy Edward Dew

Jimmy Edward Dew, age 85, of Sanford, NC, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at his home, with his family by his side.

He was born in Lee County, NC on October 23, 1937 to the late Edgar Norman Dew and Annie Lanier Dew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother William David Dew, son Ricky Kenneth Dew; brother Rex Dew and half-brother Howard Dew.

Jimmy was a devoted Christian and family man.  He was an active member of Northview Christian Church serving as Deacon, Choir Member and member of the Men’s Fellowship. He served our country in the United States Navy and following his service, worked for Roberts Company and was a Milk Delivery Driver.  He worked 22 years at GKN then another 14 years as a truck driver for Charles Goodwin Trucking Company.  Jimmy loved singing and in addition to singing in the church choir, he sang with the Glory Bound Singers.  He enjoyed spending time in his mountain house in West Jefferson, NC.  Jimmy was also a member of the Seven Seas and American Legion. He was a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy and great-granddaddy- affectionally called “Pa” and friend and will be missed by everyone who loved him.

He is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Betty Perkinson Dew; sons Mike Dew (Debbie Rollins), Chris Dew (Carol); former daughter-in-law Teresa Dew Kelly (Mike); grandchildren Ricky Dew (Tonya), Dustin Dew (Sally), Codey Dew (Anna Nicole), Camden Dew, Celia “CC” Dew (Casey Quinn), Michaela Dew (Isaac Delaino), Christin Dew; and great-grandchildren Wyatt Dew, Gaige Dew, Micah Delaino, Banks Dew, Forest Dew and Delilah Dew.

The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of Northview Christian Church, Friday, May 5, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM (other times at the family home).  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Dr. Mike Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens with military honors.
