Jerry Lynn Parson

Jerry Lynn Parson, age 70, of Sanford, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lee County on July 30, 1952, to the late Edd Parson and Lois Womack Parson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Parson.  Jerry was a dedicated community servant with many years in the fire service.  He was retired from both Cape Fear Rural and North Chatham Volunteer Fire Department.  Jerry will be remembered by friends and colleagues as a kind, humble professional who personified what it meant to be a servant of the community he loved living in. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going on new adventures.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda; son, Wayne Parson and wife, Tracey of Broadway; daughter, Jill Parson of Wilmington; brother, Eddie Parson of Sanford; special family friend, Toi Utley, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 24, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Shallow Well Church with Dr. Eric Burmahl, Rev. Donnie Thompson and Rev. Robert Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
