Jerry Lee Nance

Jerry Lee Nance, age 74, of the Deep River Community, went to be with his Heavenly Father, at his home, with his wife and son by his side on Saturday, November 28, 2020.

He was born in Lee County of September 12, 1946 to the late Thurman F. Nance, Sr. and Mildred Gathings Nance.  He was also preceded in death by his brother Thurman F. Nance, Jr.

Jerry graduated from Sanford Central High School and attended Methodist College. He was retired from Southern Industrial Constructors where he worked as a mechanic.  He also worked as a mechanic for Allen Auto, Sanford, NC and was Owner/Manager of Jordan Lake Boat Rentals.

Jerry’s love for racing, with his friend Mike Oldham, built and raced the #9 1965 Chevelle, driven by his friend, Johnny Talley.  Many fun times were spent at the Fayetteville race track.  Jerry was Secretary of the Sanford Model Airplane Club and was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.  His hobby and passion for 42 years was building his model airplanes and spending time at the club’s flying field on Sunday afternoons or flying his seaplanes on Jordan Lake with his son, Christopher.

He is survived by his wife, of 42 years, Judith Riddle Nance, his son, Christopher Lloyd Nance, and his beloved granddaughter, Caroline Marie Sine (Kyle) of Yokosuka, Japan.
