Jenifer Lee Johnson King, age 73, of Sanford, NC (formerly of Rockville, Maryland) passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.
She was born in Montgomery County, MD on January 28, 1948 to the late Robert Warren Johnson and Frances Miriam Crawford Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Corbin Gregg ; sister Suzanne Weed and step-father Joseph Ganley.
Jenifer was the granddaughter of MLB Hall of Fame Pitcher, Walter Perry Johnson, which she was very proud to call him grandfather. She retired, after 45 years of service, as the Deputy Register of Wills in Montgomery County, MD. She enjoyed her Hallmark Channel movies and was the most helpful, caring and kind person to anyone she met and she never expected anything in return. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband Wilford G. King, Jr. of Rockville, MD; son Robert L. Gregg of Tampa, FL; daughter Melanie Wissinger and husband Danny of Sanford, NC; siblings Robert Johnson and wife Nina of Boyds, MD, Joette Ganley of Frederick, MD, brother-in-law Dave Weed of Laytonsville, MD; and grandchildren Megan Gregg, Preston Gregg, Landon Gregg, Nicholas Wissinger, Jacob Wissinger and step-mother Beverly Ganley of Delaware.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a later date.
