Jean Berryman Parson Skinner, age 80, of Sanford, NC passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
She was born in Lee County, NC on September 11, 1941 to the late John Watson Berryman and Marion Estelle Phillips Berryman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Gene Parson; brother Tommy Berryman; sister Nancy Herring; and nephew Lynn Berryman.
Jean was the happiest person you could ever meet. She loved to laugh, sing, dance and make others do the same. Jean even had a “prop” closet full of funny wigs, glasses, clown shoes and other things just to make her friends and family laugh. She worked in banking all of her life which included First Federal Savings and Loan, Raleigh Federal, Summitt, First Citizens and finally retiring from Carter Bank. She was an active member of Lemon Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed her church family. She and her infectious smile will be missed by everyone.
Jean is survived by her husband Les Skinner; daughters Amy Parson Spivey and husband John of Sanford, Carrie Parson Flynn and husband Don of Broadway; sisters Flora Harrington, Mary Cox and husband Billy Joe all of Sanford; grandson Landon Edward Cheatham; step-children Tandy Barbour and husband Mark and Terry Skinner all of Sanford.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Foley officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.
