Janet (Dickens) McNeill

Janet Dickens McNeill, age 81, of Sanford, NC, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Central Carolina Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born in Lee County on May 23, 1942 to the late George Wilson Dickens and Emma Hall Dickens.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Archie Ray McNeill and sister-in-law Faye McNeill.  Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She exemplified a Proverbs 31 woman.

Janet graduated from Sanford Business College where she met the love of her life, Archie Ray McNeill.  They were married 56 loving years.  She worked as an accountant, beginning at John C. Muse and retired from Frontier Spinning/Pioneer Yarns in the accounting department. She was an active member at Edgewood Presbyterian Church for 53 years.  She served in almost every capacity of the church including Sunday School Teacher and Women of the Church leader.  Janet loved her Lord, she loved her family and she loved her church.

She is survived by her loving sons Jody McNeill and wife Kimberly, Marty McNeill (Amanda); brother-in-law Willis McNeill; sister-in-law Mary Wilson-Wittenstrom and husband John of Pinehurst; grandchildren Emma & Alex McNeill; step-grandson Jaxtin Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:50 PM in the fellowship hall of Edgewood Presbyterian Church.  The funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM with Mr. Jody McNeill and Rev. Sara Martin officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
