Jane Brookshire Rockwell, 75, of Sanford, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Transitions Life Care Hospice Home in Raleigh, succumbing to esophageal cancer.
She was born in Randolph County on September 19, 1948, to the late Thomas Archibald Brookshire and Alta Jane Hamilton Brookshire.
Ms. Rockwell graduated from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) with a degree in education. She was a teacher in the Lee County Public School System, having taught at Broadway Elementary School and Edwards Elementary School. She was a member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son Ryan Rockwell, daughter-in-law Jennifer Sugar, and granddaughter Corinne Rockwell of Cary; brother Garry Brookshire, his wife Jodi, and their son Dylan of Carolina Lakes; and niece Amy Armstrong, her husband Michael, and their children Cailum and Adley-Rai of Seven Lakes.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Jonesboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Andi Woodhouse officiating. A private burial will be held at Buffalo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the charity or nonprofit of your choosing.
