James "Skeet" Harrison Gilmore, Jr.

James Harrison Gilmore, Jr., age 72, of Sanford, NC, died Monday, March 25, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lee County, NC on July 24, 1946 to the late James Harrison Gilmore, Sr. and Claria Belle Boyette Gilmore.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings James Huffine, Jr., Jerry Lee Gilmore, Leroy Ronald Gilmore and Peggy Medlin.

Mr. Gilmore loved his job as a truck driver and tinkering on old convertible cars but his favorite love was his family, especially being a husband, daddy, and Papa.  He attended Countryside Presbyterian Church. 

He is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Polly Fore Gilmore; son Dennis Keith Gilmore and wife Tammy of Cameron; daughter Terri Lynne Gilmore of Sanford; sisters Marie Paul of Williamsburg, KY, Betty Daniels and husband Danny of Sanford, Jamie Gilmore and Marshall of Lillington; grandchildren Michelle Stone, Alicia Gilmore; and great-grandchildren Bryce Osteen, Parker Stone, Seth Leach, Tylan Leach and Aydan Leach.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 27, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and at other times at the family home.  Funeral service will be Thursday, March 28th at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Kinney officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
