James "Jimmy" Lee Parker, Jr.

James Lee Parker, Jr., “Jimmy”, age 82, of Sanford, NC, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Harnett County, NC on November 3, 1941 to the late   James Lee Parker, Sr. and Christine Strickland Norris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, of 58 years, Tilitha “Tillie” Blackmon Parker.  Jimmy served our country in the United States Air Force in both Bedford, VA and Bossier Base, LA as an Air Policeman.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree after attending Campbell University and Fayetteville State in Political Science.  He then began a long career in law enforcement including Dunn Police Department, Fuquay-Varina Police Department, Sanford Police Department and Lee County Sheriff Department, retiring as Captain of Detectives. Jimmy also enjoyed attending the Goodfellows of Erwin High School group.

He is survived by children Todd Parker of Sanford, Joy Beth Parker Tucker of Sanford, Belvin Scott Parker of Sanford; Buffie Coggins Sheehan and husband David of Alexandria, VA; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and special caregiver Sarah Williams.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 19, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and other times at the family home.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Buffalo Cemetery.
