James Earl Swain

James Earl Swain, age 86, of Sanford, NC, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born in Tampa, Florida on April 12, 1934 to the late Frank Swain and Mary White Swain.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Doris Jeanette Swain and siblings, Mildred Gardner, Edna Darville, Francis Gardner, Mae Roy McDonald and Jeannine Kelso. He was a people person and never met a stranger.

Earl is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Doris Godfrey Swain; three sons, James Swain, Jr. of Sanford, John Swain and wife, Becky of Sanford and Christopher Swain and wife, Dana of Birchwood, Tennessee; sister, Charlene Barnhardt of Kannapolis; brother, Larry Swain of Wilmington and several special grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Church of God of Prophecy (Plank Road) from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.  Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Vernon Riggins officiating.  Burial will follow in Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.
