James Lee Hunter, age 87, of Sanford, NC, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Reid Heart Center.
He was born in Lee County, NC on November 7, 1935 to the late James Herbert Hunter and Lenora Thomas Hunter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Michael “Mike” Alan Hunter and siblings Charles Aubrey Hunter, John Claude Hunter and Pam Hunter Simpson. James retired from Eagle Electric after many years of service and also owned and operated – along with his brother Charles - Hunter’s Machine & Tool. He enjoyed fishing and mowing his yard. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, of 64 years, Patty Thomas Hunter; sons Ronnie Hunter (Karen), Jeff Hunter (Renee); sister Janice Long (Larry) and grandchildren Brandy, Morgan and Megan all of Sanford.
A private graveside will be held at Broadway Town Cemetery and there will be no formal visitation. Mr. Hunter will lie-in-state at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 9:00 AM till 4:00 PM, should you wish to come by and pay your respects.
