Jacqueline Ledbetter Obituary

Jacqueline Evans Ledbetter, age 85, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Parkview Retirement Center following a lengthy battle with dementia.

She was born in Chatham County  to the late Lonza Beckett Evans and Eunice Cooke Evans.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by granddaughter, Holly Crowson and eight siblings.  After graduating from East Carolina University, Jacqueline embarked on a long career in vocational rehabilitation.    Over the years, she assisted many individuals  with vocational training programs and individual employment plans which enabled them to enter the job market and lead more productive lives.  Jacqueline was a trailblazer who went her own way in life.  She enjoyed spending time at the beach and was forever a faithful Carolina Panthers fan through the good and the bad seasons.  She was a longtime member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).  She will be missed.

She is survived by her son, Byron Wortham and wife, Kim of Sanford; sister, Joanne Evans of California; grandchildren, Cody Wortham, Zach Crowson and Megan Sokolowski and one great-grandson, Jack Wortham.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Holly’s Nest, PO Box 4086, Sanford, NC 27331.
