"JE" Jesse Hearn Obituary

Jesse Eugene “JE” Hearn, age 82, of the Deep River Community in Lee County, NC, died Saturday, August 29, 2020 at his home with his family and friends by his side.

He was born in Chatham County, NC on April 30, 1938 to the late John Robert Hearn and Cleon Williams Hearn.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother John Robert Hearn, Jr.   

JE was born and raised in Moncure, NC and graduated in the 1956 Class of Moncure High School.  He was voted Mr. Moncure and excelled in sports.  He was a faithful member of Zion Christian Church where he served a Deacon, Trustee, Cemetery Custodian and over 50 years as Sunday School Secretary.  His leadership and care of the church and community will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Gerri Dawkins Hearn; sister Sara Faye Smith and husband Bill of Moncure, NC and many very close friends that he considered family.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 31, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the fellowship hall of Zion Christian Church.  The   funeral will be Tuesday, September 1st at 2:00 PM at Zion Christian Church with Rev. Steve Johnson, Rev. Rocky Stone and Rev. Matt Austin and Rev. Lacy Frye officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
