Ivy “Foster” McNeill, age 73, of Sanford, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born November 8, 1950 to the late Phoenix McNeill and Almeta Parrish McNeill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers Mitchell and Carlton McNeill; three sisters-in-law Janice, Grace and Donna; a brother-in-law Wayne Poe.
He was a graduate of Benhaven High School and CCTC, now CCCC with an Associate’s Degree.
Foster was a kind, gentle soul who loved farming, his family and his Lord. Farmer at heart, he retired from Sanford Correctional Center after 30 years of service as a Sergeant.
He is survived by his loving wife Beverly Sharpe McNeill of almost 51 years and his daughters Kerri of Raleigh, Julie of Sanford; sisters Phyllis Poe of Sanford, Elaine Brown (Marcelle) of Lillington, Jane Sullivan (George), Robin Thompson (JW) of Sanford; brother Tim McNeill of Cameron and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and other times at Julie’s home. The funeral service will be Friday, April 12th at 2:00 PM at Swann Station Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Blackmon and Rev. Curtis Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Cameron Grove Cemetery.
