Irene Segura Garcia

On Saturday, March 13, 2021, Irene Segura-Garcia loving widow and mother of four children, grandmother to nine and great grandmother to two passed away peacefully in Chapel Hill, North Carolina at the age of 80.

Irene was born on July 3, 1940, in Mexico to Aureliano Segura Cardoso and Siriena Garcia. She finished her schooling in Mexico City and moved to the United States in September 1991. In January 1969, she married Perfecto Hernandez. They had four children, Patricia Hernandez of Florida, Perfecto Hernandez J.R. of Mexico, Hector Hernandez of Mexico, and Jose Hernandez of North Carolina. Nine grandchildren; Iliana, Henry, Luis, Jenny, Ritchie, Junior, Jose J.R., Adan, and Hector, and two great-grandchildren; Aleena and Noe.

To her family and friends, Irene was beloved and cherished as a compassionate fun-loving person.  No matter who she was with, she treated people with respect and courtesy.  She always had a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eye. She had a unique sense of humor and always made people feel good about themselves. 

Irene was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a firm believer in God and practiced her spirituality quite often. She walked in forgiveness and grace daily leading her family and friends to believe in a higher power. She will forever live in the hearts she encountered during this life. 

Revelations 2:10 “Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

Viewing will be held Monday, March 15, 2021 from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  The service will begin at 2:30PM at St Stephen Catholic Church with Fr. Baiju Augustine, MS, officiating.  Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
