George Woleck Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of George Gregory “Greg” Woleck, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, son, and friend. Greg left this world on January 9, 2025, but his love, humor, and kindness will remain in our hearts forever.

Born on December 20, 1950, Greg lived a life filled with dedication, adventure, and unwavering love for those closest to him. A proud patriot, he served in the U.S. Army in Italy, during the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped his steadfast character and sense of duty.

For fifty-two wonderful years, Greg was married to the love of his life, Sue Woleck. Against the odds, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Greg is survived by Sue, their daughter Katy, and their son Greg, along with Greg’s wife Kristine. His grandchildren, Grace, and Jack, were the light of his life, bringing him immense joy and pride.

He is also survived by his sister, Kelli, and his beloved nieces and nephews. Greg was predeceased by his parents, George and Marion Woleck, and his older sister, Marilee, whose memories he carried with him always.

Greg was a hardworking, devoted family man who loved his wife and children fiercely and along with Sue advocated constantly for their daughter and supported their son’s passion for a career in the trades. He poured his heart into ensuring their lives were full of love and security. His greatest passion was his family, though his career was just as meaningful. Among his many ventures, the time he spent building boats with his father stood out as particularly fulfilling.

An avid fan of anything with a steering wheel, Greg had a lifelong love of sports car racing, especially British cars, and Formula One. In his retirement, he became an accomplished sim-racer, merging his love of technology with his passion for racing. He also adored sailing, Boston sports (particularly the New England Patriots), and the vibrant community of friends and neighbors at Common Fence Point in Portsmouth, RI, Cape Coral. FL, and Sanford, NC.

Greg found extraordinary joy in coaching youth baseball and football in Portsmouth, RI volunteering in groups supporting fulfilling experiences for his daughter and following his grandchildren’s adventures. Music was another cornerstone of his life. From folk and pop to rock, blues, and reggae, Greg’s playlist had no limits. He shared this passion most deeply with his son and even had a special fondness for guitars.

Greg’s love for his family was unparalleled. He lived with quiet strength and made the world a better place simply by being in it. His impact was profound, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
