Gary Landis Talley, age 63, of Sanford, NC, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Durham County, NC, on December 12, 1962, to the late Marion Thomas Talley and Jean Bennett Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Sebastian Ray Talley.
Gary will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a man whose presence filled the room, with a personality as big as his heart. He loved joking with others and sharing stories. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures casting a line while fishing, spending time at the beach, and appreciating classic cars, especially working on them. He was an avid fan of the UNC Tar Heels and the Carolina Panthers, he enjoyed watching NASCAR races, and loved hosting cookouts for family and friends at his home. Above all, he cherished his family, friends, and his beloved fur babies.
Gary was a man of many talents. After moving to Sanford at the age of seventeen, he worked in a variety of roles, including manager at McDonald’s, shipping clerk at Kurry Company, technician at Todd’s Tire, supervisor at National Textiles (Hanes Brands), custodian and bus driver for Lee County Schools (Southern Lee High School), and later as manager at Stubbs & Son BBQ.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Deborah Talley of the home; stepsons, Christopher Baker and Jeremy Ivey, Sr. (Kristina); brothers, Randall Talley (Karin), Tommy Talley, and Tony Talley (Lisa); step-grandsons, Jeremy Ivey, Jr. and Bennett Ivey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor Gary’s life will follow at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Scott McGinnis officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
