Gail Garner Bailey, age 86, of Carthage, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the FirstHealth Hospice House with her family by her side.
She was born Lee County on October 11, 1938 to the late Henry Harrison Garner and Laura Pearl Jackson Garner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 64 years, Roger Currie Bailey and her brother Jimmy Garner.
Gail graduated in the 1957 Class of Deep River High School. She worked many years as a Nurses Aid in nursing homes and rehab centers. She later worked in the cafeteria at Union Pines High School and drove a school bus. Everyone that new and loved her will miss her.
She is survived by her children Roger Dean Bailey and wife Betsey, Lynn Bailey, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Bailey all of Carthage; grandchildren Landon Chase Bailey, Autumn Elizabeth Henderson; great-grandchildren Giselle Henderson, Gunner Henderson, Ryder Bailey, Thatcher Bailey and Lainie Watson.
A graveside service and burial of her cremains will be held Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Pastor Melvin Thorne officiating. There will be no formal visitation but friends and family are welcome to greet the family after the service at the graveside.
