Frankie “Pete” Alton Speagle, age 65, of Sanford, NC, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Central Carolina Hospital.
He was born in Lee County, on April, 3, 1960 to the late Frank Marshall Speagle and Betty Rogers Speagle. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his daughter Lillian Beegle; sister Deborah Leviner; niece Rosa Speagle and nephew Barry “Frank” Speagle.
He is survived by his wife Becky of Sanford ; son Edward Beegle of Sanford, brothers James Speagle and wife, Betty of Johnsonville, Dock Speagle of Broadway, Perry Speagle of Broadway, sister Peggy Woody and husband, Henry of Sanford and many special nieces and nephews.
Pete dedicated much of his life to serving his community. He retired as an equipment operator with the City of Sanford, where he was known as a dependable and hardworking member of the team. Outside of his career, he gave more than 30 years of volunteer service as a firefighter with the Northview Fire Department and the Deep River Fire Department. Through his commitment and willingness to answer the call at any hour, he earned the respect and appreciation of fellow firefighters and the community he proudly served. A man who loved the outdoors, Pete enjoyed spending his time fishing and hunting whenever he had the chance. He was happiest when he was busy—working, helping others, or tackling a project. Sitting around was simply not his way; he always had something to do and somewhere to go.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
