Frankie Matthews

Frankie D. Matthews, age 73, of Sanford, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

He was born on November 8, 1950 to the late William Gaither Matthews and Annie Lee Hopkins Matthews.  Frankie worked many years in auto sales.  He was an unselfish man who enjoyed helping others and working on his family farm.  He was also an avid NASCAR fan.

Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife of 51 years Bonnie; sons Dennis Matthews and wife Diana and Jonathan Matthews and wife Brandi; sister Jackie Bass and husband Jeff and two special grandchildren Daniel and McKenzie.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Pocket Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Dudley officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends will be received following the committal service in the Fellowship Hall.
