Faye Smith Thomas Hall, age 88, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the FirstHealth Hospice House, with her family by her side.
She was born in Lee County on January 14, 1938 to the late Wilbur Dowdell Smith and Octavia Welch Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Tony Blue Thomas; daughter Kim Thomas Rives; first husband Waylon Thomas and second husband Henry Hall.
Faye is survived by her son Darrell Thomas; sister Helen Charnock; grandchildren Gina Thomas Thompson (Shawn), Tiffany Whitehead; great-grandchildren Trey Thompson, Riley Whitehead, Nevaeh Skowronski and nephews Michael Wise and David Thomas.
She was an active and lifelong member of Cumnock Union Church and served as Treasurer for over 20 years. She worked as the Program Director for the Joint Orange Chatham Community Action (JOCCA), retiring in her 80’s.
Faye was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She loved her family, friends and church more than anything else. She was a grandmother to many and a friend to all! In her spare time, she loved to cook, read and play solitaire.
Her life was a beacon for all of us.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Cumnock Union Church with Rev. Misty Mowrey officiating. Burial will follow at the Hall Family Cemetery in Cumnock. The family will receive friends following the services at the Old Cumnock Fire Department Building.
