Eugene Rego Obituary

Eugene Richard Rego, age 85, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation after a short period of declining health.

He was born in Kent County, Rhode Island to the late August Rego and Dorothy Lopes Rego. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, May Rego. Mr. Rego proudly served in the United States Navy. After retiring from the textile manufacturing industry, he enjoyed spending his time meeting friends at the Lee County Enrichment Center and traveling. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and a Christian.

He is survived by his children, Richard Rego of Rhode Island, Russell Rego and wife, Mary of Utah, and Monica Downing and husband, Steven of Lillington; siblings, Barbara Perras and William Rego, both of Rhode Island; grandchildren, Kayla Ashley, Brandon O’Quinn, Lance Downing, Matt Rego and Amber Rego and five great-grandchildren.
