Ethan James Lucas, age 24, of Sanford, NC, died Friday, May 21, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Lee County, NC on December 10, 1996 to James Edward Lucas and Jill Branch Lucas. In addition to his parents, Ethan is survived by his brothers Joshua Kyle Lucas, Walker Jake Lucas; maternal grandfather Charles Branch and wife Ann; girlfriend Mallory Campbell; special cousin Lauren Richardson; nephews Brantley “BB” Lucas, Owen “Dawg” Lucas all of Sanford and his special fur-baby “Chief”. Ethan’s family and friends will miss his smile that would light up a room.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents James Lucas, Sr. and Clara Nell Lucas and maternal grandmother Bernice “PeeWee” Branch. Ethan graduated from Lee County Senior High School Class of 2015 where he played football and was on the wrestling team where he earned MVP his senior year. However, Ethan loved everything sports related, especially UNC Tarheel Basketball. In his younger years, Ethan played catcher for both Northview and Broadway baseball teams where he and his family made friends for life. He enjoyed going to the lake with his family and girlfriend Mallory.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 6:00 PM at Central Baptist Temple with Pastor Jason Dowdell and Pastor Merritt Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church and other times at the family home.
