Elton McRae Bryan was 81. Born August 30, 1944 to Levie Harden Bryan and Eula Guyton Bryan, which proceeded him in death as well as his brothers Linwood Bryan and Richard Bryan.
He is survived by his wife Frances Elizabeth Bryan, son David McRae Bryan (wife Christy) and brother Harden Bryan (wife Marie). He has one granddaughter, Petra Sky Bryan. He loved his family very much.
As a young man Elton worked as a full-time Electrician and heating and air-condition technician. Elton was very involved in his dad, Levie Bryan’s pastoral ministry. He taught Sunday School, led worship and even played the piano and sang with a men’s quartet. In 1969 Elton was called by God to become a Pastor. At first, he was reluctant. But after a vision, he answered the call while working under someone’s house. He was licensed, ordained and began to serve as a Pastor within the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. Reverend Elton Bryan served as pastor at Aberdeen PH Church in NC, Plymouth PH church, Holland’s Chapel in Salemburg NC, Hodges Chapel PH Church in Chocowinity NC, Mount Olive PH Church in Pembroke NC, Person Street PH Church in Fayetteville NC, Sanford First PH Church and most recently finishing a 20 year pastoral ministry at Hope Mills PH Church in Hope Mills NC. Serving a total of 55 years in full-time ministry.
Pastor Bryan, as he was most affectionately known, loved God with all his heart. He loved meeting people, praying for people, preaching God’s word, and leading people to Christ and toward a closer walk with the Lord. Although Elton loved hobbies like fishing and oystering, his true passion was serving people in ministry on many levels. His most treasured and beloved relationship on earth, was for his wife, Frances Bryan. They were married and in love for 61 years.
Elton’s dad, Reverend Levie Bryan and Elton Bryan himself, has left a lasting legacy of following and serving Christ with their whole life.
