Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Schwartz Kovasckitz, affectionally called “Lizard”, age 55, of Sanford, NC, died Friday, October 23, 2020 at Duke University Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born in Delaware County, PA on April 10, 1965 to the late Edward Joseph Schwartz and Stephanie Joan Zimmer Schwartz. Liz graduated with honors from the University of Delaware with a BA in Geography in 1989 then earned her MS from Shippensburg University in GeoEnvironmental Studies in 1990.
Liz was a loving and fun mother, wife, and supporter who loved to sing and dance while cooking. Her laugh was contagious and made everyone want to laugh along with her. She was always full of energy and had goals and dreams she passed along to her children. Her comfort food was mustard. She was an avid reader, never without a book in hand and had started writing a book. She loved her work family, working tirelessly as a Planning Program Manager for NV5 Technical Engineering and Consulting and was a member of Saint Stephen Catholic Church in Sanford, NC.
She is survived by her husband Don Kovasckitz and children Aaron Kovasckitz, Zoe Kovasckitz, Maya Kovasckitz and Lily Kovasckitz. Liz was the baby of five girls in her family. She is survived by her loving sisters; Lydia Bucci and husband Tony, Lorraine Seiberlich and husband John, Charlotte Kisco and Joe Hudson, Stephanie Yacovone and husband Marc.
A private family service will be held at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, however, a larger celebration of Liz’s life will be held at a later date yet to be determined.
