Eirk Edgerton Wade, age 98, of Sanford, NC, died Friday, September 18, 2020 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Harnett County, NC on October 19, 1921 to the late William Herbert Wade and Mary Bell O’Quinn Wade. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lucy Rose Thomas Wade; daughter Laverne Wade and several siblings.
He was a co-founder and member of Edgewood Presbyterian Church and alongside his late wife, were former Youth Leaders in the church. He served our country in the United States Army during WWII and was life-time member of both the VFW and American Legion. Mr. Wade was an automobile mechanic for the Chevrolet Dealership for many years before owning and operating his own automobile repair shop.
He is survived by his son Eddy McBryde and wife Alyssa of Sanford; daughters Eddie Wade of Sanford, Wanda Harrington and husband Glynn of Sanford; sister Margaret Faul and husband Spike of Lillington; six grandchildren Darryl Edwards, Cathy Blue and husband Lendell, Dale Edwards, Mark McBryde, Ashley Johnson and husband Kenny, Adam Harrington and wife Rose; 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 21, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Robert Thomas and Mr. Jody McNeill officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.
